The Alfa Laval LeviMag consists of a detachable drive unit, levitating impeller unit with radial blades, seals, ceramic bearings, magnetic coupling, weld plate, and connections.
It is provided in five sizes, with mixing velocities ranging from 10 rpm to 800 rpm.
The working principle
The magnetic coupling generates torque, causing an impeller with radial blades to rotate inside the vessel. This rotation mixes the fluid within the vessel. The unique design of the Alfa Laval magnetic coupling ensures the impeller is always levitating, enabling complete drainability of process fluids from the reservoir and dry-running of the system.
This design ensures maximum yield by providing highly efficient mixing down to the last drop. It also facilitates complete cleaning of the mixer, allowing CIP liquids and steam to flow freely around all components. Impeller levitation further eliminates axial attrition, enhancing operational efficiency.
